Drainage and waste disposal
It is advisable that drainage, or any service connections, should not be made through the basement retaining walls. Even if invert levels are lower than the outlet point, it is best to provide an up-and-over system, due to the potential for reverse flow.
The location of utility spaces and bathrooms in basements has been facilitated by readily available pumped drainage systems and macerators. Consideration should be given to easy access for future maintenance and replacement.
